HOMEGROUPS

What Are Homegroups?

Homegroups are places to build relationships with other people in the church, helping each other and having fun.

These groups meet in people’s homes during the week. Some groups meet weekly and some fortnightly. At an average night in an average group there will be copious amounts of tea and coffee, usually some posh biscuits and plenty of conversation.

What goes on in a Homegroup meeting?

Often there will be some exercise to help people relax and focus on God and then a Bible study. This is an opportunity to have a discussion about a subject, to wrestle with tough questions and think about the relevance and application of a topic in our lives.

Homegroups are great places to ask questions and to step out of your comfort zone with a group of people you know and trust, whether that is praying out loud for the first time, leading a Bible study or praying for someone.

It’s great to be part of a homegroup when you hit a hard time in life. They’re a group of people who care about you and will pull together to offer you help. A common example of this is when someone has a baby or comes out of hospital, the other members of the homegroup will organise a rota to provide you with a weeks worth of meals.

Homegroups also have (organised and spontaneous) social activities, often where we can bring friends and family who wouldn’t normally come. Some common social activities include going to the pub, games nights, a walk by the sea followed by fish and chips, women’s pampering and men’s action movies, and so on.

All homegroups have their own individual flavour and atmosphere. Feel free to try one out without obligation. For more details of our groups please contact the office, or check the information boards at our Sunday service.
